The old Sevens mill

Windmill of Kaulille

Discover the still-used old windmill in Bocholt.

This small mill is a beautiful ground-sailer and the only one still existing in Belgian Limburg. Together with the miller's house, which is as old as the mill, it forms an attractive whole.

The windmill is a ground-sailer with a 24-meter flight. The sails on the sails are stretched from the ground. There are two stone pairs, or grinding stones: one used to grind grain for consumption, the other was used for grinding buckwheat. Today, the mill is only used to grind animal feed.

The windmill was built in 1894, by mill builder Adriaan Mulders from the Dutch town of Weert. In 1902, the mill was sold by the Mulders family to the Sevens family. Therefore, the mill was given the name “Sevensmolen.

In 1994, the mill and its surroundings were designated as a protected monument and village sight. Between 2004 and 2006, the mill was thoroughly restored.
